This sabot slug has a velocity of nearly 2000 feet per second and accuracy of about 6" at 50 yards out of a smooth bore barrel. In the M4, the M855-A1 bullet has better penetration on a hard target than the "green tip" M855, but begins to tumble upon impact which also reduces over penetraton.
